In 1931, a young woman named Thalia Massie claimed to police that a group of native islanders from Hawaii brutally kidnapped and assaulted her. The fallout from her claims would spark off decades of racial tensions between the natives and the white ruling class in Hawaii. What followed was a sordid tale of sex, racism, revenge and murder. It’s a story that threatened to destroy all of tranquil Hawaiian society.
