Throughout history, many cultures around the world have claimed to have had people who could contact the spirits. In the late 19th century, during the height of Spiritualism, a Baltimore novelty and toy company began selling a device they claimed could allow the user to gain knowledge from spirits beyond the grave. The history of the Ouija board is nearly as mysterious as the way it’s supposed to work. Some people appear to have even been driven to commit murder by the board.
